Okay, okay...
...its not a cat! But, I've been laughing so hard, I decided to post a picture. My sister-in-law got a new Chihuahua puppy, and of course it was freezing. So crochet hook to the rescue! Got some worsted weight and some eyelash-type yarn and went to work.
Now, I have cats (they wouldn't be caught DEAD in a sweater) and a big, hairy dog (no sweater required) and so I'm thinking "how hard can this be?" The sweater turned out so CUTE...til I tried to put the thing on the puppy! It was like stuffing a pillow into sandwich bag! By the time I was through dressing the poor thing she was exhausted and so was I...from laughing so hard.
So its back to the drawing board...don't make dogs one piece sweaters that you THINK they will just slip into...ain't gonna work!

Projects done, un-done, and undone!
Finished the Retriever counted cross stitch for my mom, sorry about the glare on the glass. So will be trying to get my OTHER Christmas project finished as soon as I can, had to tell my sister I wasn't finished with hers, cause it took so long to finish this one.
Also didn't finish the star afghan...so will give my nephew the giant granny meant for another family member...and finish the star for later.
Why does it get so hectic at Christmas? My nerves were really frazzled this year, and the PEOPLE everywhere. I didn't find any Grinches while out and about, but cannot figure out where they all CAME FROM!
Projects for the New Year??? Oh yeah, as soon as I finish projects for 2005! The only plans I have are for an afghan, made from an Anne Cloth, counted cross stitch. It will eventually be someone's but its first purpose will be the San Juan County Fair in August...bet get started ASAP
Today's cat stuff: You should have seen, or not seen, the cats last night. We had 25 people here to presents and dinner...the only one who braved the crowd was the dog! The cats just conveniently disappeared!
Today's handy stuff: Absolutely NOTHING!!!
Today's puter stuff: Just this quick update! Oh, and a picture of BittyKitty...thought I'd better get a "middle" teen picture in here...she will be a full year on Easter!
Guess I should leave out the other either! Jazz and Libby here enjoying my crocheting...at least someone loves it! They think I crochet in order for them to have a comfy place to nap!

hours, and hours, and hours
I can't even count the amount of time I have worked on this project. You can see the last picture below. This is an update. After quite some time. And other than the nose being "darker" I can't see a lot of difference in the thing! However...I am DETERMINED that it will be completed, and framed, before Christmas. I better get OFF here and get back to work, don't you think??
Today's Cat Stuff: They're still here. They're still spoiled. BittyKitty will be going to get f-i-x-e-d next month. Joy
Today's Puter Stuff: Trying to get ready for Christmas, ebay and I are friends right now!
Today's Craft Stuff: The afghan for Josh is coming along, the surprise for my sister is coming along...IS THIS DOG COMING ALONG?????

Current Projects!
This is the golden retriever picture I'm making for my mom for Christmas. Counted cross stitch, my own pattern. Think I'll get done before the big day?
This is the afghan I'm making for my nephew for Christmas. It is Beth's Little Star afghan, in black and brights using 4 ply worsted weight yarn, and will be huge...my nephew is 6' 4" tall! Its about half done, I guess.
CatStuff: Nothing new, which is usual
PuterStuff: Working on the Men cxs series of earlier post
CraftStuff: As seen above!

A "Side Trip"
I've been missing in action! Work's been crazy, home life's been crazy, too! Crocheting is happening....slowly. In my almost-non-existent-spare-time I'm working on some counted cross stitch patterns.
So what do you think of "The Men"? Don't know what I will call the series, yet. They are 100 stitches wide on 18 count aida cloth. All will be on black.
CrochetStuff: Working on C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S, don't say that TOO loud! And a few squares, a couple of my own design.
CatStuff: BittyKitty is growing...so are Jazz and Libby. I swear I'm gonna have the 3 fattest cats in town!
PuterStuff: Not enough time to do the computer stuff I want to be able to do! The story of my life!

Hometown Square--12"
Today's Handistuff: adding an original pattern, a 12" square, which is one of my favorite things to do!
Today's Catstuff: I have a major disaster in my craft room, thanks to BittyKitty. She knocked about 20 inches of stuff off a bench...and it went everywhere! Beads, cards, thread, pictures, CD's...you name it, its in the floor now.
Today's Puterstuff: just emailing some friends, doing some looking at patterns (like I might NEED one!), I need to get up and get busy!!

Finally!
I finally finished this doily. I REALLY enjoyed this pattern, found it on one of the Russian crochet sites. Now that its finished, I think the varigated thread is a little BUSY, but I still love the colors. I will definitely be keeping this one to make again. There are many, many crochet patterns out there, but very few make it into my "LIKED-IT-ENOUGH-TO-MAKE-IT-AGAIN" folder!
Today's handistuff: Packing things to take with me on a "shorty" vacation. Gotta have something to do while we are traveling. Planning to crochet myself a backpack. Found the pattern at HappyHooker!
Today's puterstuff: just this, and email
Today's catstuff: Getting the cats ready for me to be gone a few days, too. Cats are so easy! Of course, they'll be glad to see me when I get home, but they will ACT like they are peeved because I was gone. Gotta Luv 'Em!!

The Endless Search....ENDED
I FINALLY found the pattern for the spiral doily...after months of searching. It can be found here: http://www.devichnik.ru/2002/08/spiral.phtml
This is a foreign language site, but amongst all the things you MIGHT not be able to read, there are 3 blue "clickable" words. "Noaia" 1, 2, and 3...click on them and you will find the crochet diagram for the doily, and its joining.
Today's catstuff: Just being cats. Woke up several times last night because a cat "touched-down" in the middle of me as they were flying through the house. Must have been some catnip growing outside the windows last night.
Today's handistuff: Got some MAJOR work done on the counted cross stitch I'm working on the last couple of days. Working on the finishing rounds of the beaded doily, and getting some squares ready to mail to others.
Today's puterstuff: Just email, and directing other people to the pattern above. My mom finally bought a new computer yesterday, and I spent a while setting it up for her. Its a beautfy. She will love it.

Small FO
I finished the cross for my sister. Its from a free pattern on the web, and the original had poinsettias. I placed tiny white roses...hard to see, but they are there.
Today's handistuff: working on my mom's cross stitch, and thinking about working on a beaded doily.
Today's puterstuff: Catching up on emails, group stuff...been working nights which REALLY puts a cramp on my style!
Today's catstuff: Weeeellll...at least we are sleeping at the same time now!

Weekend's over...dang it
I finished the doily from "you know where", and its on its way to the contest. Forgot to take a picture, so can't post. I'm always so ready to send things off after I get them made I frequently forget the pics.
Help from Crochetville...again! Posted that I wanted a pattern for a larger cross for my sister, and immediately got a response (thank you, thank you, Susan) for a cross wall hanging from www.freepatterns.com , it has poinsettias on the original, but will put something else on the finished piece. Since its not for Christmas.
For a Pebble Pouch Exchange on Rock_a_Beady_Crochet, recipient unknown!
Today handistuff: finished the pebble pouch, finished the contest doily, started the cross for my sister. Also started working on some 12 inch squares for another exchange. Ripped out some stitches on the counted cross stitch I'm working on...it takes longer to get them out than to get them in!
Today's puterstuff: Just email. And worked on my mom's computer. Talked her into getting a new one, cause the one she's got is just dying. Updated some pictures on www.therockingchair.us . That's about it.
Today's catstuff: I would never have guessed how much 3 cats could eat. I've had 2 cats for several years...added BittyKitty, and seems like every time I turn around I'm going after food and litter!

Ever tried to teach?
Did you ever take on the task of teaching someone, or some PEOPLE, to crochet? I taught a young lady to crochet once, she was left handed. So she sat opposite me in a chair, and just mimicked what I did. It worked, but that was just stitches. She had to teach herself how to adapt patterns and such.
I'm teaching a bunch of fellow crochet group members to read crochet diagrams...that's going well. I'm also trying to teach how to crochet a lapghan using a picture graph...that's NOT going so well. We're still trying though.
Suggestions? I've hit all the web sites I could find with graphed instructions.
Today's handistuff: Finishing up some exchange things, the contest piece, and working up the final practice piece for the diagram crochet lessons.
Today's catstuff: They're still here! Its "sleep all day" time, so we can stay up and be obnoxious all night!
Today's puterstuff: Looking for a pattern I found a long time ago...and it appears to be gone from the net.

THEY like cross stitch, too.
I guess cats don't JUST like crochet thread and yarn. Nothing is quite as fascinating to a young cat as a needle and thread going in and out of a piece of Aida cloth!
Today's handistuff: Bored! Can you say "short attention span"? So I'm making a cross stitch/bead scissor case. Just as though I don't need to be doing something else!
Today's puterstuff: Looking for some things on the internet for my son. I'm wondering why. He wants copies of some Chinese symbols...and the Korean alphabet. Last time I saw him I was introduced to his new tatoo...Chinese symbols for something, can't remember what he said. ~sigh~
Today's catstuff: Polydactyl cats have some popularity on the internet! I had no idea.

Weekend's here!
Whew! What a week...starting with a 19 hour work day on Monday! Geez...too old for that!
We've had rain. We needed it badly, so can't complain.
No luck with the spiral doily hunt...more dead ends. ~sigh~
Today's handistuff: Doily in the picture...slow going, but still enjoying the pattern. One 12" square designed...just have to write the pattern out. Starting another doily for an exchange, beaded. That's about it for this weekend.
Today's puterstuff: I can't figure out how to get a document (Word) copied to a web page...I don't want to type it out, cause I have about six pages to do...too much time. Still working on it...
Today's catstuff: Watching BittyKitty trying to figure out how to jump all the way up to the ceiling fan. Certainly hope she doesn't solve that one!

The Endless Search-installment umpteen!
Meanwhile back at the crochet hook...my fist attempt at copying the picture in crochet was a dud...thanks to my compadres at Crochetville, I realized I couldn't crochet the doily in one piece...its two pieces joined after completion. So started again...
Here are the results
Today's Handistuff: Working on a beaded doily for an exchange, and some squares to send to a Rocker!
Today's Puterstuff: Take a wild guess!...will be looking for an elusive doily pattern!

The endless search---too!
Today's handistuff: working on beaded bags, a crochet along from rock_a_beady_crochet. Working on a couple of Russian doilies.
Today's puterstuff: Gotta get some updating done on the website. www.therockingchair.us is a couple months without update!
The beaded bags I'm working on. The gold will have amethyst beads. The varigated will have blue.
Glass pony beads purchased from The Jolly Store! Thanks!

Normal-toed Cats, too!
A Looonnnng 2 days
The cats missed me...
Today's handistuff: Found something new to crochet with! It is Darice Metallic Cord (gold) for Plastic Canvas. Okay, its a little rough going through my fingers, but its turning out nice. Making a small bag for whatever.
Interesting? LOL
Today's puterstuff: 2 days worth of email. Might not sound like much to some...but it takes me a while! Some time spent at Crochetville, just looking around, meeting new members. Also some group home page clean up at RABC and RCC

Having a moment...(7-29-05)
so...I decided I could look at this doily pattern and figure out how to do it. Some guessing was in order, because the picture isn't the best quality around. I got this far, and am trying to figure out where I went wrong, cause its not laying right! Then it dawned on me...its made in two pieces!
Well, DUH! Ok. but this is enough for now! I will have to look at it again tomorrow!
Today's handistuff: You're looking at it!
Today's puterstuff: Looking for an arial photograph of the town I live in. Guess we don't have enough planes around here!

7-28-2005
I am owned by this little polydactyl kitty...her name is BittyKitty...along with 2 other "normal-toed" American Shorthair cats.
My cats love my crochet. Whether playing with the yarn/thread I'm currently using, or sleeping on a finished, or UNfinished, piece.
Libby is the destroyer. She will take small things I've made and adopt them. By the time I find them...they're pretty worse for wear. She also loves to take small balls of yarn I forgot to hide.
Today's Handistuff: Made a quick bookmark, worked on my sunshine doily, no cross stitch.
Today's Puterstuff: Translating a crochet pattern from diagram to written for friends!

The endless search (7-26-05)
I'm on a mission. To find a pattern. It has me stumped.
I've enlisted help from a lot of places. It is a German pattern, a double spiral doily, originally published by Burda Crochet Magazine, supposedly in the fall of 2000. Any suggestions as to how to find this pattern?
